Where ya been?
It's been over a year since I added anything to this blog-writings or art. January of 2010 doesn't feel that long ago but time flies all the same. Since then the only traditional art I've done was for scifialmanac.com. I offered some illustrations for possible inclusion in the 2010 edition of Scifi Almanac. They art for a story titled Timewreck was accepted and printed in the almanac.
Also an illustration I did in art school 18 years ago was used for another story. You can submit art as you see fit to scifialmanac.com and if it fits a story submitted by a writer both may see print. The cool thing about this?...As an artist you keep the rights to your art and can submit it elsewhere at the same time or sell it.
I haven't felt like drawing or painting anything in months. I play on the computer a little with various programs but that's about it at this point. This happens regularly. When the urge to create hits, there's a frenzy of activity that happens until the energy is exhausted. After that it's back to the point I'm at now.:/

It's not just me...
It's not just me...
Artists seem to bounce around from one project to another. Starting new projects before finishing the old. This painting half finished that drawing almost done and another painting started because of an idea given rise by the first two.
All in all, five half completed illustrations and no money to show for any of the effort. Such is the life of an artist. Most work regular full time jobs or a string of part time jobs to supplement whats not earned through creative endeavors.
Then of course you see a reproduction of an Andy Warhol "masterpiece" and want to commit Hari kari because you realize how little artistic talent he had yet fame and fortune found him anyway.
While money is not the main motivation that sparks the creative process, most artists would gladly take the fortune for their efforts...all five incomplete projects and the idea that started them off one by one.
Just a thought

2 Face
Way back in high school I did a pen and ink illustration that was submitted into a poster contest...the focus was about the dangers of drug abuse.I won the contest and the illustration was used as front and back covers for an anti drug information booklet.
This is my stab at recreating that image entirely in computer using a paint program only-Twisted Brush Pro.
The empty space on the right side SHOULD HAVE various types of drug paraphernalia (laziness stopped me short).
I plan to rework the image when I get the time. The hardest part for me seems to be the neck/shoulder area- should I keep it in shadow or show details - muscle and so on.
